Whakaari Stone (Black Volcano Rock) is a type of Black Lava Rock that adds interest to any aquascape. It is a black porous, lightweight stone with occasional white accents. It can be used for both planted and African Cichlid tanks. Due to its inconsistent character, Whakaari stone is a versatile aquascaping rock that can be used in Iwagumi, Indonesian, and natural aquarium-style scapes. It is an angular-shaped rock with irregular edges. Black volcanic rock has a unique and rough texture, stacked to provide a natural environmental look to your aquarium. These stones will not affect water chemistry and provide fish with a natural sea habitat. Black Volcanic Rock is mainly composed of iron and magnesium minerals. All the rocks have approximately similar compositional minerals. Some rocks have a spongy or glassy appearance depending on the gases trapped and the cooling time of lava flow.
